We have begun the first "I am curious" stage of our Rock Pool Inquiry. We started by recording what we already know about rock pools.
Then we went down to the beach to see what we could find. We did a scavenger hunt to look for all sorts of things: things that are smooth, bumpy, things with more than 2 legs. It was lots of fun. We have also came away with lots of questions about what different animals eat, where they come from and how they live.

A day in the life in Autahi
Graphing our strengths
Last week we identified all the qualities and characteristics we think are important to have to make a happy classroom. Then we each chose our top 3 strengths relating to those qualities. Here is a bar graph showing how many people in our class chose each quality.

Morning message
We do a morning message in Autahi where we read a letter about our day, share some things from home and then ask each other questions. This week we had some awesome photos of baby birds that had hatched outside of someone's window! We were all really interested to see the photos and ask some questions about it.

How much water do we drink?
We're having a water challenge and graphing how much water we drink in a day. We drank 73 cups today! Come check out our wall!
We have our own cups for drinking from. When we have finished we wash them out.
We had to think like mathematicians and make a good estimate of how many jugs it would take to fill the water container. Some of us thought 1, some 2, some 3 and some 4. We found out that it was 2 and almost 3.
Welcome to 2016!
Welcome to 2016! Today we did heaps! Kind Koala helped us think about what we think is important to have a happy and safe learning environment! We made posters and chose our top three strengths! Have a look!
