Musical Artworks

After some late nights and high energy requirements we enjoyed an art day today, reflecting on our achievements.  We created backgrounds showing the twinkling lights and line and ink drawings of our musical costumes. It was a brilliant day.

Music Festival

We have had a very busy week! It has been amazing to see all of those Worser Bay Learner attributes shining through:

I am a thinker (so much creative and critical thinking- problem solving, idea sharing)

I am connected ( a definite connection to our place and our community; it is so powerful for students to experience their ideas coming to life and get the chance to express them to you)

I am powerful (so much action, lots of persistence and overcoming of challenges - it's quite daunting looking into to sea of faces)

I am a goal setter (so many great feelings of success and accomplishment)

Thank you for all your support and encouragement. We have loved sharing our learning with you and are looking to sharing even more of this learning journey at the Celebration of Learning meetings on the 8th September. Don't forget to book a time!

Here are some of our gorgeous costumes! Don't we look fantastic?

Buddy Reading

We are great buddies. We have got new reading buddies this week. We made a mini poster showing each of us and our names to help us remember who our buddy is. We are practising rereading books we know when we read. These are books we have seen and are in our book boxes. This helps us become more fluent readers and become even more confident.

Friends of Ten

Some of us in Autahi have been learning about the Friends of Ten. These are the two numbers that go together to make a ten. We have been making them in lots of different ways to help us remember them.

We worked out the Friends of Ten:
9 + 1
+ 2
+ 3
+ 4
and we all know 5 + 5

Up Up Up to the Moon

We were exploring the letter u last week and created these beautiful artworks about climbing up to the moon. First we created the backgrounds and then we glued on our moons, stars and ladders. Then we took a photo of ourselves climbing up the ladder and glued it on. Lastly we wrote Up!Up!Up!

Maths Discovery!

We had to buddy up, close our eyes and listen as our buddy dropped beads into a cup.  As we were listening we had to count.  Then we opened our eyes and said how many beads we thought there were and lastly we counted them on the number line to check our number! It was hard work concentrating and trying to listen for the sound!

We used beads to make ladybird spots and groupings to 5.
5+0=5 and 2+3=5 are some of our groupings.
We are learning about the friends of 10.  They are the buddies that add up to make ten!
9 + 1 are friends.  8 + 2  are friends.  We can go all the way down to 0 + 10!
