This week we made connections outside the classroom with our learning in the classroom. Our trip to Te Papa this week was the coming together of all of the threads of our inquiry around pacific voyagers.
Here is a great example of a model of a Waka made by a child in Autahi and the model we saw at Te Papa. The learners were so excited to see that things they had been learning about were so similar to the real thing. Placing our learning into the real world helps to grow their sense of place and understanding of the world around them.
It was great to hear the children from Worser Bay sharing their knowledge with the educators and taking the opportunity to ask new questions based on what they had seen.
We are looking forward to our next inquiry and seeing where it might take us next.
